ACTIVITY WEEK AT

PARD

Monday, April 22 –

8:00 amBird Walk , Ages 10-16  - 1.5 hour long – limit 15 participants – Register online at www.pard1.com

This session will start with an introduction to binoculars, and then we will take a walk around the park to try to see as many different bird species as possible.  Kids must be able to handle and be responsible for binoculars and be willing to listen and follow directions.  Each child will be given a poster of birds that are commonly seen in back yards and parks in our area.  

10:00 amHumming Bird Camp – Ages 10-16 – 1 hour long – limit 20 Participants-Register online at www.pard1.com

Learn all about our tiniest feathered friends.  This will be an interactive program designed to teach kids about hummingbirds.  We'll talk about their physical characteristics including what makes them unique.  We'll talk about how they live and eat and how teeny tiny their babies are.  We'll also talk about what you can do to attract them to your yard so you can see them up close. Each child will be given a hummingbird feeder to take home with directions about how to fill it.

12:00 pm – 1:30 pmOpen Play Volleyball – limit 12 people on each court at a time.  Please rotate if other families would like to play.  Keep it friendly and have fun!

Family volleyball on Court #1 & #2 – Parents must be present at this time.  Balls will be provided.   An ID will be required when checking out a ball.  Waivers are to be signed in the office and wrist band received before getting on the courts.  Read all rules before getting on the court.  This is friendly play.

1:30 pm – 3:00 pmOpen play volleyball. – limit 12 people on each court at a time.  Ages 18- up. Balls will be provided.   An ID will be required when checking out a ball.  Waivers are to be signed in the office and wrist band received before getting on the courts.  Read all rules before getting on the court.  This is friendly play.

 

Tuesday, April 23

Session 1 - 9:00 am – 10:00 am          Session 2- 10:15 am – 11:15 am

Biddy Volleyball – Ages 4-6 Parents must be present.  We will be using a low net and a beach ball. Parents are welcome to participate. Register at www.pard1.com.  Number of participants are limited.

9:00 am – 12:00 pm - Intro to “Strike Up the Band! Summer Workshop- limit 15 participants-

Register online at www.pard1.com.

A display/discussion of:

·         Pre-band instruments, designed to foster an interest in joining a school band program

·         Music Reading Essentials

·         Q/A about instruments of the school band program (what, where, which one)

·         Information about the Strike Up the Band Summer Workshop

Appropriate for “middle school” students grades 5th - 7th for the upcoming academic year

Lead by James I. Square, retired Director of Bands, Ponchatoula High School


Wednesday, April 24

9:00am -11:00am - ReAssigned Craft- Ages 6-12 -– limit 15 participants – Register on line at www.pard1.com.  Cost $5 per participant (Pay instructor at class)

The participants will take old, ugly, wood and make it beautiful.  They will create their very own piece of art to keep.

12: 30 pm – 3:00 pm - Open Play Basketball

 Balls will be provided.  An ID will be required when checking out a ball.  Waivers are to be signed in the office and wrist band received before getting on the courts.  Parents must sign the waiver for ages 17 – below.  Ages 12 & under must has adult supervision.   Read all rules before getting on the court.  This is friendly play.

Thursday, April 25

Session 1 - 9:00 am – 10:00 am          Session 2- 10:15 am – 11:15 am

Biddy Kickball -   Ages 4-6

Parents must be present.   Parents are welcome to participate. Register at www.pard1.com.  Number of participants are limited.


Friday, April 26

9:00am – 1:00pm - Open Play Family Pickleball

Family Pickleball court #2a & #2b – Parents must be present at this time.  Balls & paddles will be provided.   An ID will be required when checking out a paddle.   Waivers are to be signed in the office and wrist band received before getting on the courts.   This is friendly play.  Be considerate to others waiting to play.  Limit 4 players per court.
